The Birthplace of APRA
Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement

About Us

Who we are

Minnesota is the birthplace of APRA and while we could write the history ourselves, it has already been done so nicely by our friends at APRA International, so please check out their site. Read about the history of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement.

What we do

"Prospect Research, or Advancement Research, is about working with development officers to identify people who are able and interested in contributing money to our non-profit organization's mission." --Jon White, Former APRA-MN Board Member

General responsibilities of a prospect researcher may encompass the following:

  • Current Event and News Awareness - using all available media outlets to stay abreast of community events that might impact your organization;
  • Prospect Identification & Qualification - discovering new donors while focusing on the prospect's affiliations, interests and ability to make a major gift; and
  • Information Management - collecting, presenting and maintaining integrity of the data collected and developing procedures for the respectful and confidential use of that data.
